Navigating Thru Nursing School #3

Gabcast! Navigating Thru Nursing School #3

Gabcasting Within Blogger

I have just discovered a great tool called Gabcast that may work well for our class. You actually get to use your cellphones for nursing school related stuff! Here is how it will work:
I will periodically pose a question for students to answer. To respond to that question, I would like for students to voluntarily call 1800-749-0632, and enter the channel number 13273, and then the password 123123 when prompted. Then press 1 to record, and then # to stop recording. You can then review your message by pressing 1, delete it by pressing 7, or if you are satisfied with it, you can publish it by pressing 2. Publishing it means it will load to this blog, and your classmates will be able to hear. Please keep all recordings in good taste.

What is critical thinking?

Nurse educators and nursing students alike may be surprised by the many ways that their colleagues and fellow students define 'critical thinking.'  I posed the question 'what comes to mind when you hear the words 'critical thinking?'

Worth Thinking About!

When students begin their nursing education, they are quickly made aware that this will be unlike any other educational experience they have had. Prior to entering nursing school, courses previously completed relied heavily on memorization. Not so with nursing education courses. Beginning nursing students are soon brought 'kicking and screaming' into the challenging reality of the student nurse role. This vlog will try to serve as a resource of practical strategies to facilitate the development of critical thinking skills in student nurses.
